Error description
DFHME0006 is issued trying to process message DFHFC0955 from DFHFCRO. The problem is that fcro_dslen has not been initialised and thus the length passed to DFHMEME by DFHFCRO contains blanks for the length, thus causing the DFHME0006 'MVS getmain failure' message to be issued.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHME0006 issued when * * attempting to issue msg DFHFC0955. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In the reported problem, CICS issued message DFHME0006 attempting to GETMAIN an inordinate amount of storage required for an insert in message DFHFC0955. The insert length field for DFHFC0955 was uninitialised and the message domain happened to use residual data of x'40404040' hence the DFHME0006. Had the residual data contained zero (probably more commonplace), then DFHFC0955 would have been issued without the DFHME0006 but also, the insert whose purpose is to identify a VSAM dataset referenced in earlier messages, would have been missing. Had the residual data contained zero (probably more commonplace), then DFHFC0955 would have been issued without the identifying VSAM dataset name. Likewise, residual data equating to a large number may cause a WTO buffer overflow and residual data equating to a negative value would result in no DFHFC0955 being issued at all. Keywords: MSGDFHME0006 ME0006 MSGDFHFC0955 FC0955
Problem conclusion
DFHFCRO has been modified by initialising fcro_dslen.
