APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • DFHWS2LS utility currently truncates variable names at 22
    characters. This limit was implemented because of the
    restriction in COBOL. However, since in C it is possible to
    have a structure name greater than 22 characters, the rules in
    DFHWS2LS need to be relaxed.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: C compiler errors are issued because *
    *                      DFHWS2LS truncates element names        *
    *                      with varying cardinality at 22          *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    DFHWS2LS is run to create a language structure for C or C++
    against a WSDL file containing an xml element with varying
    cardinality; that is, an xsd:element with minOccurs and/or
    maxOccurs specified. DFHWS2LS truncates the element names
    at 22 characters, so if the names are not unique within
    the first 22 characters then duplicate names are generated.
    This results in compiler errors when the structure is
    included in a program.

Problem conclusion

  • MakeC.java has been changed in getContainerFieldName and
    getContainerOccurencesFieldName, to increase the allowed name
    length within xml elements with varying cardinality to 45.
