APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A local transaction does a PUT CONTAINER and then an EXEC
CICS START passing the CHANNEL for a remote transaction.
Subpools PGCHCB, PGCPCB, PGCRCB, PGCSCBV and PGCSCB4K may
show more getmains than freemains when the process is
complete and the storage is never freed. This can lead to an
    SOS condition and message DFHSM0133.

Local fix

  • Start the second transaction locally.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Multiple EXEC CICS STARTS with CHANNEL *
    * to remote systems may cause SOS. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A task issued an EXEC CICS START with the CHANNEL parameter.
CICS getmains an area to hold a copy of the channel.
This copy is usually deleted by the STARTed task at task end.
However the START was function shipped to a remote system and
the copy is never freed causing storage creep.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEIIC has been amended such that upon completion of calls to
SHIP_REQUEST and SHIP_ROUTABLE_START a call is made to
DELETE_CHANNEL_COPY to ensure the copied channel storage is
    freemained.
