PK45759: DFHDS0002 CODE 0204 IN DFHDSTCB - CJMJ TASK IS RESUMED EARLY

APAR status

• Closed as unreproducible.

Error description

• The message DFHDS0002 is issued for a severe error x'0204' in
  module DFHDSTCB for the CJMJ task.  The 0204 means
  DSTCB_INVALID_ABTERM.  DFHSJCC is issuing a FREEMAIN
  REMARK('SJSTK') but is running ABTERM_ALLOWED(YES).  When the
  CJMJ task tries to obtain the SMLOCK, it is already owned so
  the task is to be suspended.  DFHDSTCB then detects that the
  task is running ABTERM_ALLOWED which results in the DFHDS0002
  message.

  A customer's system shows that old Classcaches are not being
  released. Dump analysis shows a CJMJ task had been suspended
  due to SMLOCK contention, while attempting to release JVM
  control storage. The task entered the dispatcher code running
  ABTERM_ALLOWED. This is a prohibited state and a DS0002 dump
  was issued to indicate this, and the task's state was altered
  to "Resumed Early". This CJMJ task will never be re-dispatched.
  This leads to JVM storage, in particular Classcache, not being
  released thus consuming storage.

Comments

• DFHSJCC has been amended to swap states to ABTERM_NO prior to
  any call that may require the task to be suspended.
