Error description
CMAS shutdown may be slow when terminating the BAS component due to the unnecessary freeing of BAS association blocks for each CICSplex. The CMAS EYULOG will contain the following messages for each CICSplex that requires BAS termination. . EYUBI0006I cmasname BAS termination for CICSplex plexname has started EYUBI0007I cmasname BAS termination for CICSplex plexname is complete . Method BMTM (BAS Management Plex Termination) calls subroutine FREE_ASSOC to free BAS association blocks for the CICSplex that is terminating. This is required if a CICSplex is removed while the CMAS is active, but is not necessary if the CMAS is terminating. . Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): performance terminated

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V3R2M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CMAS termination may be slow when BAS * * is used. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note * * that the restarts do not need to occur at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** When BAS is used in a CPSM environment, each CMAS builds data structures in the BAS dataspace matching the BAS definitions that exist for a specific CICSplex in the data repository (EYUDREP). When the CMAS terminates, or if the CICSplex is removed from the EYUDREP, method EYU0BIBD (BIBD) is called to perform BAS termination for the CICSplex. BIBD issues message EYUBI0006I on entry and EYUBI0007I on exit. The text of these messages is as follows: EYUBI0006I BAS termination for CICSplex <plexname> has started EYUBI0007I BAS termination for CICSplex <plexname> is complete BIBD calls method EYU0BMTM (BMTM) to perform cleanup for the CICSplex. As part of the cleanup process BMTM calls method EYU0BMZR (BMZR) to remove the data structures from the BAS dataspace. Depending upon the number of BAS definitions for the CICSplex, this process can consume a great deal of time. When BMTM is called for removal of a CICSplex from the EYUDREP, BMZR must be called so that unused storage can be recovered from the BAS dataspace. However, when BMTM is called for CMAS termination, it is not necessary to recover the storage from the BAS dataspace, since it will be deleted as part of CMAS termination, and re-created when the CMAS is restarted.
Problem conclusion
BMTM has been updated to bypass the call to BMZR when called during CMAS termination.
