Error description

  • After activating channels and containers in a large production
environment, abendAXGAs and abend0C4s start to occur. The
abend0C4s are occurring in DFHPGCR at +x'2C4C' while accessing
    a broken CRCB chain.
The CRCB chain contains 0's, and PGCR assumes that during an
append call, there will always a CSCB address. Evidently this
is not the case. If there is no CSCB address, a CSCB anchor
    chain will be needed.

Additional Symptoms: in CICS TS 3.2 DFHPG0001 Abend 0C4/AKEA
at offset X'30DA' in module DFHPGCR. ST instruction: 5050 400C

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND S0C4 in DFHPGCR may occur when *
    * processing large channel containers. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A program passes a channel on an EXEC CICS LINK statement to a
remote program. If the channel container is >32K including
headers, this can occasionally produce an ABEND0C4 in DFHPGCR.
    Additional Keywords: AXGA

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPGCR has been amended so that when it processes PUT CONTAINER
commands, a check is made for the existence of a channel segment
control block before the decision to perform a PUT TYPE=APPEND
    is made in routine dfhpgcr_add_container_data.
