Error description

  • After an webservices task suffered an abend (in this case an
abendAUEP, and U4087 accompanied with message DFHPI0500), the
associated Pipeline resource (EXPIPE01) get stuck with 'being
disable' after a subsequent SET Disable cmd.
The problem is exposed by an abend within a pipeline message
handler. This causes the PIPM START_PIPELINE to complete with
EXCEPTION REASON(UNHANDLED_ERROR) and this means that we fail
to issue a RELINQUISH_PIPELINE call which would drop the
usecount of the pipeline to 0. The non-zero usecount stops the
pipeline from being disabled or re-installed.

    * even if it is not currently in use. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A PIPELINE resource cannot be disabled whilst it is in use.
DFHPIPM calls ESTABLISH_PIPELINE to indicate that the pipeline
is currently being used for a given task. It should always call
RELINQUISH_PIPELINE when the pipeline is finished with, but
there are some error scenarios where the pipeline resource is
    not relinquished.

This blocks the resource from being disabled as CICS incorrectly
thinks that it is still in use.

  • FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY

Comments

  • DFHPIPM has been changed to relinquish the pipeline in
all scenarios where it has been previously established.
