Error description

  • A DPL request with a CHANNEL is issued. The CHANNEL includes a
CONTAINER of data type BIT, which is shipped with 0 in the CCSID
field of the container header. The receiving system incorrectly
attempts to check that CCSID contains a valid value, even though
no conversion is performed for BIT containers. This results in
an AITJ abend on the receiving system.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The CTG support for IPIC DPL sends a BIT container with
value 0 in the CCSID field of the container header. This is
because code page conversion is not applicable to BIT
containers. The code in DFHAPCR that reconstructs the
channel on the mirror system passes this value on the CCSID
parameter of the PUT_CONTAINER call. DFHPGCR checks that
the passed value is a valid CCSID, which it is not, resulting
in an AITJ abend of the mirror.

    Additional Keywords: ABENDAITJ PUT_CONTAINER_FAILED

Problem conclusion

  • DFHAPCR has been changed to not specify the optional CCSID
parameter on DFHPGCRM PUT_CONTAINER calls for BIT containers.
