APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a DFHLG0772 message occurs with reason code 4, response
code 404, a LG0772 dump is automatically taken. These MVS
Logger rc/rsn codes are expected so the dump is not needed
when the xmem environment fails and should be suppressed.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When CICS disconnects from a logstream, an IXGCONN disconnect
call is made to the z/OS Logger. If a disconnect request is
already taking place for some reason, the z/OS Logger will
give a return code of 4 (warning), with a reason code of 404
(which means IxgRsnCodeDisconnectInProgress). The CICS Log
Manager treats any non zero return code as serious enough to
issue message DFHLG0772 and request an associated system
dump. The overhead of a system dump is not justifiable for such
a basic warning, and only the message is required.
    KEYWORDS: MSGDFHLG0772 LG0772 772 0772 MVS

Problem conclusion

  • The CICS Log Manager has been changed to issue DFHLG0772 without
an accompanying system dump if a disconnect request receives
    rc4, rsn404 from the z/OS Logger.
