PK50082: A RETRY_KEY9_REQUEST FAILS DURING A WRITE MASSINSERT WITH 080C

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS abends AEIU during a series of write massinsert requests.
  The return code from VSAM is 080C and had a 0878 response on the
  previous request.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Program running on a key 9 TCB issues   *
  *                      WRITE MASSINSERT which fails 080C.      *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Program running on a key 9 TCB issues WRITE MASSINSERT.
  If VSAM requires additional subpool 0 storage in the middle of
  a WRITE MASSINSERT VSAM returns an 0878 so that CICS can
  switch to the QR TCB and retry the request.
  In the act of switching, CICS loses position so that the retry
  of the PUT SEQ command fails with an 080C.
  

Problem conclusion

• If an 0878 occurs during an WRITE MASSINSERT
  CICS will resposition the request before
  reissuing the PUT SEQ.
  

Temporary fix

• FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY
