Error description
The CICS region goes Short-on-Storage above the line in ECDSA due to PGHTBs that became orphaned. Almost all of the PGHTB pages are empty except for 3 words at the end that contain information for a Handle Abend. One word points to the handle routine, DFHEDFX. In the trace, we saw DFHEDFX getting and freeing the HTBs, but every not and then, it gets one it does not free, as part of an XCTL request.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SOS condition in ECDSA due to build up * * of PGHTB storage. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** With EDF active an application is run that XCTL's to a program which then returns to a lower level program and repeats the loop. Across XCTL processing DFHEDFX issues a Handle Abend command and getmains a new 4K block of PGHTB subpool storage into which a handle abend table is created. When DFHEDFX terminates, the table does not get freemained and so becomes orphaned. This occurs through each iteration of the loop until PGHTB storage becomes depleted and CICS goes SOS and issues message DFHSM0133. Only the Handle Abend from programs that issue EXEC CICS XCTL commands should be passed to the XCTLd program and not those that have been issued by CICS modules. Additional Keywords : MSGDFHSM0133 SM0133 SOS short-on-storage
Problem conclusion
DFHAPLI1 has been updated so that at termination of DFHEDFX handle tables are always freed.
