Error description

  • The EIP ENTRY RET field has incorrect output under L8 or L9 TCB.
Assume a program has been defined with CONCURRENCY(THREADSAFE)
and API(OPENAPI), and CICS has STGPROT=YES.
The program is executed with auxilliary trace on. When the trace
is formatted, the "AP00E1 EIP ENTRY" trace entries for the L9
TCB show RET(04FF0000) for all such trace entries. The "AP00E1
EIP EXIT" trace entries have the correct RET() value for each
    trace entry.
If the same program euns under the QR TCB the EIP ENTRY/EXIT
trace entries have the same value, which is the return address
to the application making the EXEC CICS request.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: AP 00E1 EIP ENTRY trace entry contains *
    * an incorrect RET value. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
In the reported problem, a transaction running on an open TCB
was being traced. A SHORT or FULL trace of the transaction
showed that for an AP 00E1 EIP ENTRY trace entry, the RET
value contained '04FF0000'. DFHEIP relied on a R14 value
prior to making the trace entry. However, a codepath existed
that reloaded R14 with the erroneous value and it was this
that was traced out in the RET field.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEIP has been modified, R14 is now reloaded from RSABAR which
    contains the correct RET address.
