PK54319: AN ABEND18A MAY OCCUR IN CEEVHPIS WHEN RUNNING IN THE XPLINK ENVIRONMENT.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When running in an xplink environment withing CICS, an
  abendS18A may occur.  DFHAPLX1 will report the error as a 18A /
  ASRB abend with an offset of x'FFFFFFFF'.  Language Environment
  will report the problem as CEE0374C CONDITION=CEE3250C.
    Language Environment csect CEEVHPIS executes a PGSER macro
  that expands to a SVC x'8A' or decimal 138 for the PGSER Release
  request.  The storage being accessed is not available in the
  region.

  If an abend occurs in a program which is running in the
  XPLINK environment in CICS, and the abend is not handled
  by the Language Environment, the transaction may terminate
  leaving pages of virtual storage marked as read-only in the
  DSA.
  This can cause an abend 18A  in CEEVHPIS in a subsequent XPLINK
  program as it issues a PGSER release request for storage which
  is now inaccessible in the region.

Problem conclusion

• DFHAPLX1 has been altered to call the Language environment
  for termination during recovery if the Language environment
  was in control when the abend occurred.
