PK54718: ABENDAPIG RETURNED DURING PIPELINE SCAN PROCESSING

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• AbendAPIG occurs during Pipeline SCAN processing
  (CEMT PERFORM PIPE(xxx) SCAN); this abend leaves a Web service
  in "UPD" (updating) status, leaving the Web service unusable.
  
  Two problems have been uncovered:
  1. DFHPITL use volatile storage to save the WEBSERVICE name.
  2. DFHPIWR should have returned some sort of error when the
     WEBSERVICE could not be found in the WSDR directory.

  *                      left in UPDATING status when not in     *
  *                      use.                                    *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  A PERFORM PIPELINE SCAN is issued to refresh the Web Services
  associated with the pipeline. Web Services that are not
  currently in use are stuck in UPDATING status indefinitely and
  not updated due to their USE COUNT never decreasing to zero.

Problem conclusion

• DFHPITL has been updated to successfully decrement
  the Web Service's USE COUNT in all cases, when the request
  has finished. This means that the Web Service's USE COUNT
  will return to zero once all outstanding work has been
  completed.
  

Temporary fix

• FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY
