DFHPIRS can backout a UOW under an L8 TCB. Since this involves
freeing and allocating RMUW objects, there is the potential for
the RMOF class to be driven concurrently under both the L8 TCB
and the QR TCB (for traditional UOW activity such as binding a
new RMUW to a new task, or freeing one at syncpoint or end of
task). As RMOF does not use the locking option when acquiring
and freeing RMUWs, this can lead to storage manager corruption
of the quickcell environment, with subsequent abends, etc.

Problem conclusion

  • The RMUW class has been changed to use the locking option
methods when allocating and freeing RMUW objects via
    DFHSMGFI calls.
