Error description

  • Starting a JVM with a big shareable application classspath
failed with DFHAP0001 An abend (code 0C6/AKEA) occurred at
    offset X'FFFFFFFF' in module DFHAPLJ1.
Looks like R6 onwards has been overlaid by part of the sharable
application classpath. As all the registers are affected.
It looks like a register save area has been trumpled.

    ****************************************************************
The JVM properties file contains a very long specification
for the shareable application classpath. DFHSJPJP calls
routine sjpjp_substitute_symbols to substitute the applid
and JVM number in this string. This routine can only
process a string of maximum length 4096 (4K), but the
shareable application classpath length exceeds this. This
leads to an overlay of a register save area which in turn
causes the abend0C6. An abend0C4 or abend0C1 could also occur
depending on the data which overlays the save area.

Problem conclusion

  • The routine sjpjp_substitute_symbols has been altered to
correctly process a string of up to SJPJP_MAX_CLASSPATH
    (8K) in length.
