Error description

  • You are in a CICS VSE 1.1.1 environment, and you use CECI to
inquire on a terminal. By mistake you enter a connection name
instead of a terminal on the query. The results is a program
check occurring in DFHEIQST(UQ76247) on a convert to binary
instruction (CVB). The problem does not occur if CEMT inquire
is issued a Ter(xxxx) NOT FOUND is returned.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend ASRA when issuing an INQUIRE *
    * TERMINAL using EXEC CICS or CECI. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When an INQUIRE TERMINAL is issued via EXEC CICS or CECI,
an abend ASRA occurs due to an 0C7 occurring in DFHEIQST at
    offset '18D4'.
The abend occurs because a connection id is specified instead
of a terminal id. In DFHEIQST, the code continues thinking
that a terminal id has been specified and eventually attempts
a CVB (convert to binary) against what it believes is a packed
decimal TASKID. Since the connection does not have a packed
decimal at the appropriate offset, an 0C7 is issued.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEIQST has been altered to ensure that if a connection id
is detected then a TERMIDERR response is issued.
