PK62802: ISSUING INQ SYS CICSTSLEVEL RETURNS BINARY ZEROES FOR THE DATA1 VALUE, WHEN ISSUING IT IN A PROGRAM

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In a program (both ASM and COBOL) the command EXEC CICS INQUIRE
  SYSTEM CICSTSLEVEL(ws-area) incorrectly returns binary zeros,
  and gives RESP = 0 and RESP2 = 0.
  CEMT I SYS returns 010101, as it should.
  This failure only happens when it is used in a program.

  If CICSTSLEVEL is the only parameter on an EXEC CICS INQUIRE
  SYSTEM command, binary zeros are returned with a normal
  response. If other parameters are present, the correct
  version, release and modification level are returned.
  CEMT INQUIRE SYS and CECI INQUIRE SYSTEM also return the
  correct result.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHEIQSA has been modified so that an EXEC CICS INQUIRE SYSTEM
  CICSTSLEVEL command returns the correct version, release and
  modification level when CICSTSLEVEL is the only parameter.
  

Temporary fix

• FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY
