Error description

  • After you migrate to the CICS owned MQ CICS Bridge in CICS
Version 3.2, the MQ CICS Bridge does not work. The messages
remain on the bridge queue until the bridge monitor
transaction CKBR ends. At that time you see messages similar
to the following in the CICS joblog:
    DFHMQ0713I CKBR Bridge terminated normally
    DFHMQ0762I CKBR Queue name CICS.BRIDGE.REQUEST
DFHMQ0736I CKBP Bridge quiesced before task started
    DFHMQ0760I CKBP
      MsgId=C3E2D840D9D4F2C44040404040404040C01B1A40F6E34320
    .
A CICS auxtrace shows CKBR reading a message from the bridge
queue and doing an EXEC CICS START with data for the DPL
transaction (CKBP by default). The problem is that the CKBP
transaction does not start. As part of the start processing,
information is written to a temp storage queue with a DF prefix.
The START isn't completing because the TSMODEL for prefix DF is
recoverable. Ending CKBR does an implicit commit which allows
    the START requests to continue.
    .
The difference between MQ 5.3.1 and the CICS owned MQ Bridge
code in CICS Version 3.2 is that Version 3.2 no longer uses
the REQID option on the START with data for the bridge task.
That is what is causing the DF temp storage prefix to be used
    at this release.

Local fix

  • Consider making the TSMODEL with PREFIX(DF) non-recoverable.
Be aware that this will affect any EXEC CICS START with DATA
but without REQID, so consider how this will affect other
    applications.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
An EXEC CICS START of CKBP was done from CKBR. Since there was
no REQID, data associated with the START was stored in a
temporary storage queue prefixed with 'DF'.
If 'DF' queues are defined as recoverable (TYPE=RECOVERY),
the STARTed transactions will not run until CKBR ends.
When the STARTed transactions eventually run, message
    DFHMQ0736I is issued.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHMQBR0 is changed to issue an EXEC CICS SYNCPOINT following
a successful return from the EXEC CICS START for CKBP.
