Error description

  • Customer is using the cics command WEB OPEN to stablish a
    connection through a proxy server using the HTTP protocol with
    a non default port (f.e, port 1024), but the CICS issues the WEB
    OPEN with the default port (80). CICS trace shows it doesn't
    have the right port here, it should be 1024.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: EXEC CICS WEB SEND will fail when using *
    *                      a non-standard port number on a proxy   *
    *                      url.                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When using a proxy, the URL must contain the port number of the
    final remote server. However, if the port number supplied is
    non-standard (e.g. not 80 for non-SSL, or 443 for SSL) the
    construction of the fully-qualified URL in DFHWBCL fails to
    include the port number and so the request fails.
    This problem will be seen on an EXEC CICS WEB OPEN or WEB SEND.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHWBCL has been altered to include the port number specified
    by the application on the SEND or OPEN request.
