PK67983: ABEND AXTS CAUSES CICS TO CRASH WITH MESSAGE DFHRM0002

APAR status

Error description

• Abend AXTS occurred because an attempt is made to pass channel
  and container data between the transactions in a
  pseudoconversation, but the next transaction in the
  pseudoconversation resides in a CICS region that does not
  support channels. During the abend processing cics fails
  with DFHRM0002  A severe error (code X'0377') has occurred in
  module DFHRMLSOA.

  When a CICS TS 2.3 system routes a transaction to a CICS TS 3.1
  or CICS TS 3.2 system, and that transaction issues
  EXEC CICS RETURN TRANSID(tttt) CHANNEL(cccccccc)
  then repeated transaction abends AXTS occur followed by messages
  DFHAP0002 xxxxxxxx A severe error (code X'0D89') has occurred in
  DFHCRIU.
  DFHRM0002 xxxxxxxx A severe error (code X'0377') has occurred in
  DFHRMLSO
  and the AOR is terminated with U1800 ABEND

Problem conclusion

• DFHEPC has been changed so that when the CHANNEL option is
  specified on EXEC CICS RETURN, but the remote region to which
  control is returned does not support channels, then INVREQ
  condition is raised with a RESP2 value of 203.  If the INVREQ
  condition is not handled, then the transaction is abended AEIP.
  The AOR is not terminated.
