PK69966: VTAM LU6.2 SESSION PENDING WITH STATUS PSEST, PSEST/B

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You have LU6.2 sessions that remain in a pending status.
  Host A has a Independent LU6.2 PLU session with status PSEST
  and Host B has a CICS SLU session  with status PSEST/B.
  You notice that when you have pending LU6.2 sessions, you
  also will see two consecutive DFHZC3462 messages in the
  CICS MSGUSR log.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: LU62 sessions become stuck in PSEST or  *
  *                      PSEST/B status during session close.    *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  An LU62 parallel session is unbound by a partner LU. During
  the close processing a BIND is received from the connected
  system, which tries to use the same session.  The VTAM SCIP
  exit, DFHZBLX, is driven and interrupts the close processing,
  leaving the session hanging in PSEST status.

Problem conclusion

• DFHZOPN has been changed to test whether a BIND has been
  received during close processing. If it has, CICS is set to be
  the secondary system. This prevents the sessions hanging.
