Error description

  • DFHTM1797 after a transaction that has a DB2 thread issues a
    'CEMT SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE'.DFHSTP ABENDS WHEN IT FORCE-PURGES A
    USER TASK THAT HAS A DB2 THREAD.
    

Local fix

  • HAVE THE TASK THAT HOLDS THE DB2 THREAD START A NEW TASK AND
    HAVE THE NEW TASK LINK TO DFHSTP. THE DB2 THREAD TASK WILL HANG
    AFTER IT LINKS TO DFHSTP.

    A task owned a DB2 thread and requested a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE via
    the DFHEMTA interface. This caused the shutdown assist
    transaction CESD to get driven as a new task. Due to timing
    issues, it was possible for CESD to FORCE PURGE the transaction
    that requested the shutdown. As a consequence, it is abnormally
    terminated with MSGDFHTM1797.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHD2TM and DFHSTP have been modified. Should a SHUTDOWN task
    own a DB2 thread and a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE is requested, DFHD2TM
    will no longer force purge it as part of shutting down the CICS
    DB2 attachment.
    
    The following documentation change will be made to the CICS
    Transaction Server for z/OS Version 3 Release 2 Data Areas
    manual GC34-6863-00.  The field TCAGFLG1 in dsect DFHTCAPS
    will now read as follows:
