Error description
A local transaction does a PUT CONTAINER and then an EXEC CICS START passing the CHANNEL for a remote transaction. Subpools PGCHCB, PGCPCB, PGCRCB, PGCSCBV and PGCSCB4K may show more getmains than freemains when the process is complete and the storage is never freed. This can lead to an SOS condition and message DFHSM0133. This is the same symptom as PK45231 which appears to have been regressed by code added in PK51941. That code changed the behavior for a START on REMOTE system. Additional keywords: KIXREVSCB Additional symptoms: You are running with a new application that issues EXEC CICS Starts to a remote region, passing a channel. It runs fine initially, but after time you receive the followoing error. . DFHSM0606 THE AMOUNT OF MVS ABOVE THE BAR STORAGE AVAILABLE TO CICS IS CRITICALLY LOW. . The storage initially available: DFHSM0601I LIMIT OF ABOVE THE BAR STORAGE AVAILABLE IS 2G FROM MEMLIMIT. . In this case you start running out of storage above the bar - in the GDSA before going short on storage in the EDSA, Transactions, waiting for GDSA storage, start getting purged, causing AEXY abends. Subpool is PGCSDB. Here is the suspended request: Subpool GDSA Request PGCSDB GCDSA 4096 . ABENDAEXY msgDFHSM0606

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Remote START request that passes a * * channel and uses DFHDSRP leads to * * Short on storage. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Issuing a EXEC CICS START request that specifies a CHANNEL and will be shipped remotely as specified by the use of DFHDSRP will lead to short on storage condition. PK51941 altered DFHEIIC to ensure that only remote START requests resulted in the deletion of the copied channel and containers. This alteration however does not delete the copied channel and containers if the decision to ship the request is made by the dynamic routing program set in DSRTPROGRAM. Also if the transaction to be started is defined as dynamic and routable, but a remote system id is specified, the copied channels and containers are not deleted. Problem conclusion
UK32125 UK32033 DFHEIIC has been altered to now set new variable request_shipped to be on if a request is shipped remotely. This new parameter is now tested to decide if the copied channel and containers should be deleted.
