Error description

  • Customer migrate CICS from 1.3 to 3.1. They found that any
console terminals are not installed when DFHTO6004 issued during
the install of group JPNTYPE which contains TYPETERM CJPNTYPE.
    Error message:
DFHAM4893 INSTALL FOR GROUP JPNCONS HAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
DFHTO6004 TERMINAL CJ30 DOES NOT SPECIFY A CONSNAME BUT REFERS
TO TYPETERM CJPNTYPE WHICH SPECIFIES DEVICE=CONSOLE.
DFHAM4892 INSTALL FOR GROUP JPNTYPE HAS COMPLETED WITH ERRORS.

The reason of DFHTO6004 is that there are some console terminal
definition without correct CONSNAME. In CTS 3.1, CONSOLE is
is obsolete and CONSNAME must be used. DFHTO6004 is issued for
the old console terminal definition. Customer migrate thier
TERMINAL and TYPETERM definition from CTS 1.3.
In this customer, group which contains TYPETERM is defined after
the group which contains TERMINAL in the same group list.
    For example,
     LIST JPNSLIT contains the groups
     GROUP JPNTERM
     GROUP JPNTYPE
    .
     GROUP JPNTERM has following terminals.
     TERMINAL TYPETERM CONSNAME CONSOLE
    CNE4 DFHCONS CONTME01 blank
    CNE5 DFHCONS CONTME02 blank
     CN01 DFHCONS blank NO
    .
Terminal CN01 get DFHTO6004 becasue CONSNAME is blank.
The problem is terminal ( CNE4 and CNE5 ) is not installed if
DFHTO6004 occurred. These terminals should be installed.

Local fix

  • Define the group for TYPETERM befer the group for TERMINAL in
    group LIST.
     or
Delete the incorrect terminal definition from the group to
    prevent DFHTO6004 error.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Console definitions using CONSOLE(xx) where xx is a one-byte
id are no longer supported, but may be defined on the CSD as
a result of migration from a lower release. If an attempt is
made to install such a definition an error message DFHTO6004
is returned and the install fails.
During GROUPLIST install, if a terminal is defined in the LIST
prior to the typeterm definition which it specifies, the
install of the terminal will be deferred until the typeterm
definition is installed. When the typeterm definition is
installed any outstanding terminals which require it will be
installed. However, if any one of these terminals fails to
install, none of the valid ones will be installed, as they
    should be.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHAMTP has been altered so that, even if some of the
terminals fail to install when installing a typeterm
definition, the valid ones will still be installed.
