Error description

  • The customer stated when running the 3270 bridge transaction in
initial mode it works as designed. When running the transaction
in continuation mode the second screen encounters white spaces
    left from the prior screen.
    .
The problem is caused by code in DFHBRTB which processes the
ERASE of the screen. Eventhough the ALTERNATE screen size is
being used it is only clearing attributes from an area the size
    of the default screen size.
    .
When the HTML is built on the second send it finds these old
attributes from the previous send so creates new HTML fields.
However, the information relating to those attributes has been
deleted so these field default to being unprotected.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The screen displayed by a transaction *
    * accessed via the 3270 Web Bridge may *
    * contain unexpected unprotected fields *
    * if the application issues an EXEC CICS *
    * SEND ALTERNATE ERASE after a previous *
    * EXEC CICS SEND MAP ALTERNATE command. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
DFHBRTB routine dfhrtb_erase uses brvs_plane_size which is the
length for a default size screen to clear the screen buffer and
attribute planes of an alternate size screen.
This can result in spurious unprotected fields being displayed
towards the bottom of the screen.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHBRTB has been amended to use brvs_attr_plane_len on the MVCL
instruction that clears the screen buffer and attribute planes
    in routine dfhrtb_erase.
