APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In module DFHDMPBA we issue GET RPL = FWACBAR and the return
from that call is R15 = 8 which is a logic error and the RPLFDB3
is set to x'40' which indicates that we have run out of the
number of strings required to access the CSD.

Local fix

  • Breakup your SCAN to no more than 290 SCAN commands in one run

    * commands are executed. The results *
    * are unreliable from the later commands. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
DFHCUCOM processes DFHCSDUP SCAN commands by executing a
browse of the CSD to find a matching object in an IBM
protected group, followed by another browse to find any
matching user-defined objects. The IBM and user defined
objects are then compared to see if they are the same.
If an IBM defined object is found, no ENDBROWSE is
performed for this browse of the CSD, so the VSAM string is
not released. VSAM will continue to dynamically allocate
more strings until it reaches the maximum limit or runs out of
storage to do so. When no more strings can be allocated VSAM
requests will begin to fail giving misleading results.
    Additional keywords: RPLNOPLH

Problem conclusion

  • DFHCUCOM has been altered to issue an ENDBROWSE request
to tidy up, when the browse of the CSD to find a matching
    IBM defined object is complete.
