Error description

  • An IPIC connection, used by the CICS Transaction Gateway to
    route work into a CICS TS region, suffers a communications
    failure. This causes those tasks that are in-doubt, waiting on a
    decision from the Gateway, to be shunted. CICS then attempts to
    release the associated IPCONN, which then becomes stuck in a
    FREEING state. This prevents the Gateway from re-establishing
    the connection once the network has been restored.

    *                      following a connection failure. The     *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A unit of work, started in response to an IPIC request from a
    Gateway client, is in-doubt when the connection is lost. The
    IS domain detects the network error and attempts to release
    the IPCONN associated with the connection. All suspended
    tasks that are waiting on messages over the connection are
    purged. Any that are in an in-doubt state are shunted but
    their IPIC receive sessions are not freed, and this prevents
    the release operation from succeeding, and leaves the IPCONN
    in a freeing state.

Problem conclusion

  • Code is added to the DFHISJU Resource Management Connector so
    that it frees the receive session when an outstanding attempt
    to receive a message is purged by the IS domain.
