Error description

  • Numerous DFHSO0106 Language Environment Callable Service Error
    (Code X'0236') has occurred in Module DFHSOCK messages are
    received. Your CICS web service transactions stop working
    and you are required to re-cycle CICS and TCPIP.
    The trace entry shows the following exception:
    SO 0236 SOCK  *EXC* - GIVESOCKET_ERROR RETURN_VALUE(1)
                          RETURN_CODE(1124)
                          REASON_CODE(000000FF)
    .
    Backing up in the trace, you see the socket has been closed
    Return code 1124 RC1124 x'0464' means ENOTCONN indicating the
    socket is not connected. Reason code 0FF RSNFF means
    JRStatusPosted - A request was received to dub a thread for a
    process that is stopped or has ended.
    This problem is similiar to APARs PQ67055 and PK56675,
    but issued for a different return code. The error and the
    dump are too severe for this condition. Code will be
    provided to handle this as a soft error and output an exception
    trace entry.

    * issued followed by a system dump with *
    *                      dumpcode SO0002 when a GIVESOCKET call  *
    *                      fails.                                  *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A new connection arrives in sockets domain because of an HTTP
    request from a browser. CSOL (the CICS sockets listener task)
    issues a GIVESOCKET ( BPX1GIV ) against the newly accepted
    socket.

    The GIVESOCKET return code ( AIORC ) is ENOTCONN ( 1124 ).
    This is returned by CSI TCP/IP because the connection with the
    browser is no longer there. This is a common response to
    GIVESOCKET requests but CICS issues a console message
    (DFHSO0106) and takes a system dump with dumpcode SO0002 in
    response to the error.

    ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS :- CSI

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSOCK has been changed to avoid issuing message DFHSO0106
    and taking a system dump when a GIVESOCKET request fails
    with ENOTCONN.
