Error description

  • User tasks are failing with AETK abends. CICS issues message:
    .
    DFHAP0002 A severe error (code X'2526') has occurred in DFHERM.
    .
    CICS trace shows:
    .
    AP 2526 ERM *EXC* - RMLN_SET_LINK_FAILED FUNCTION(SET_LINK)
                        RESPONSE(EXCEPTION) REASON(LINK_UNKNOWN)
    .
    The LINK token being passed on the SET_LINK request (field
    TIELTOK ) is zeroes. The problem occurs because the number of
    token slots for RMLK 's has hit it's maximum. The Link Summary
    in the RM domain is filled with RMLK 's with Link ID SOCKLINK
    and almost all of them are associated with the same UOW
    associated with a long-running task. This task does iterations
    of WEB OPEN and WEB CLOSE, followed by a SYNCPOINT, however the
    RMLK 's are not being deleted until task termination.
    .

Local fix

  • The application can periodically restart itself and then go
    through task termination which will free off these links.

    * X'2526') has occurred in module DFHERM *
    *                      following an earlier DFHRMLN ADD_LINK   *
    *                      failure.                                *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Message DFHAP0002 A severe error (code X'2526') has occurred in
    DFHERM together with user tasks abending AETK. This situation
    occurs because the allocation limit of RM LINK tokens ( 65535 )
    has been breached.
    Nearly all the allocated RM LINKs are owned by a single task.
    This task repeats iterations of EXEC CICS WEB OPEN followed
    later by EXEC CICS WEB CLOSE and EXEC CICS SYNCPOINT.
    Each EXEC CICS WEB OPEN allocates a new RM LINK to the task.
    However, these LINKs are not deleted by EXEC CICS WEB CLOSE and
    are retained until task termination.

    ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS :- AP0002 ABENDAETK

Problem conclusion

  • DFHWBCL CLOSE_SESSION processing has been changed to call
    sockets domain to relinquish the current task's interest in the
    socket before it is closed. This ensures that the previously
    allocated RM LINK token is deleted.
