Error description
With trace settings INTTR=OFF (internal trace OFF) and AUXTR=ON (auxiliary trace ON), application program get RESP=16 (INVREQ) and RESP2=2 (no valid trace destination found) at CICS command EXEC CICS ENTER TRACENUM, ONLY in case when DFHLCD (Local Catalog Data Set) has been delete/defined before INITIAL starting CICS. At 'normal' INITIAL CICS start (i.e. w/o delete/define LCD) the problem is not visible. DFHTRAP checking CSATRMAS (CSA trace system master trace flags) fires because the CSATRMAS bits are changed when the LCD has been previously delete/defined.
Local fix
Do not delete/define DFHLCD. Simply schedule an INITIAL start with SIT option START=INITIAL.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The master trace flag is not set on * * if only auxiliary trace is being set * * active during a CICS INITIAL start. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If CICS is being brought up with START=INITIAL and the local and global catalogs have been deleted and defined since the previous run of CICS, the CSA master trace flag will not be set on if auxiliary trace is the only type of trace being started during initialization. When starting auxtrace DFHTRSR attempts to locate the CSA in order to turn CSATRMAS on. The address of the CSA is not yet available in the AFCB for the AP domain so the locate fails and the master trace flag is not set on. This causes command EXEC CICS ENTER TRACENUM() to fail as it believes there is no trace destination available. Additional keywords: EIBRESP2 EIBRESP AUXTR INTTR GTFTR DFHLCD DFHGCD CSZTRMAS
Problem conclusion
DFHTRDM has been altered so that the kernel master trace flag will be set during TR pre-initialize domain phase if the SIT has specified that auxtrace be turned on. This will ensure that DFHSIA1 will switch on the CSA master trace flag.
