Error description

  • Message DFHWB0002 A SEVERE ERROR (CODE X'0509') IN MODULE
DFHWBSR and an SVC DUMP occur.
    Review of Trace Entry .......
    DH 0E11 DHFS *EXC* - STAT_FAILED - FUNCTION(INQUIRE_HFS_FILE).
In the last byte of the fullword at +x'24' we see the HFS error
code x'00000087' which translates to a "ENOTDIR" error.
    error.
    Explanation:
A directory component of the working directory's pathname is not
    really a directory.

Review of DFHDHFS logic shows that if an error occurs it checks
for an EACCES response (NOTAUTH) x'6F' or an ENOENT response
(NOT_FOUND) x'81' error. For any other errors the logic falls
through as a generic STAT error.

CICS will be modified so this type of failure will not result in
    a dump.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHWB0002 is issued with *
    * a system dump when CICS receives *
    * an ENOTDIR return code trying to *
    * access an HFS file pointed to by *
    * an HFS file path containing an *
    *                      invalid directory.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The customer sends in a request to CICS, for example,
    http://hostname:port/dir1/dir2/file.wsdl/½top
    The URIMAP definition contains:
    PATH: /dir1/dir2/wildcard

    HFSFILE: /usr/MYDIR/dir1/dir003/dir2/wildcard
    (where wildcard is *).

When CICS receives this request, it appends file.wsdl/½top
to the end of the HFSFILE value in the URIMAP definition
    resulting in:/usr/MYDIR/dir1/dir003/dir2/file.wsdl/$top

CICS then tries to access this file but fails with an
ENOTDIR return code because file.wsdl is not a valid directory.
DFHDHFS inquire_hfs_file does not contain code to handle the
ENOTDIR return code Consequently, message DFHWB0002 A SEVERE
ERROR (CODE X'0509')HAS OCCURRED IN MODULE DFHWBSR is issued
    with a system dump.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHDHFS has been changed so that message DFHWB0002 will
not be issued and a system dump will not be taken when CICS
receives an ENOTDIR error trying to access a file pointed to
by an HFS file path containing an invalid directory.
Instead message DFHWB0759 and exception trace entry
DH 0E0A Not directory will be issued.
The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 4 Release 1 Trace
Entries manual, SC34-7013-00, will be updated so that the DH
    0E0A trace entry will read:
DH 0E0A DFHDHFS Exc Not directory 1 DFHDHFS parameter list
