PM19673: MANY DFHWB0153 MESSAGES, ASYNCIO_REQUESTED_FUNCTION_ERROR, AND SOCKET CLOSED AFTER WEBSERVICE CLIENT SENDS ECONNABORT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You are running CICS TS 3.1 with webservice installed.  There
  are 20 running ports, but for only one of these, you receive
  hundreds of messages per day indicating:
  DFHWB0153 x.x.x.x,PORTyyyy,The web asynchronous socket receive
            failed with an IO error.
  An exception trace point is issued, WB 0906, the socket is
  closed, and the request is terminated.

  Gathering a dump triggered on the message DFHWB0153, there is
  an earlier exception trace point:
  SO 0E03 SOUS  *EXC* - ASYNCIO_REQUESTED_FUNCTION_ERROR
                        RETURN_VALUE(-1) RETURN_CODE(1120)
                        REASON_CODE(00000000)
  The return and reason codes of the trace point indicate
  ECONNABORTED.

  *                       client sends ECONNABORTED.             *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
   There is an outstanding asynchronous RECEIVE for an HTTP
   TCPIPSERVICE. The RECEIVE completes with an error return
   ECONNABORTED and CSOL drives socket notify processing.
   This does not have code to handle the ECONNABORTED
   return code and therefore issues msgDFHWB0153.
   An ECONNABORTED during ASYNCIO can be caused by the client
   disconnecting. This condition does not require a
   message.
  

Problem conclusion

•  DFHSOS23 has been altered so that an ECONNABORTED returned
   from an ASYNCIO call will not result in message DFHWB0153.
