Error description

  • After translating and compiling a COBOL program with the
COBOL3 CICS translator parameter, an abendasra may occur in the
DLZNUCA1 module. Register 2 will hold a value retrieved from
lowcore. It turns out that the COBOL3 translator option left
out an INITIALIZATION CALL. The COBOL2 translator statement
will insert this call at the start of the Procedure Division
of the application. The COBOL3 translator option also needs to
include this call for CICS COBOL programs that perform DL/I
    requests.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Specifying the COBOL3 option to the CICS translator instructs it
to, among other things, omit the generation of a DL/I
INITIALIZATION call at the beginning of the COBOL program being
translated. DL/I on VSE requires this call in order to allocate
    basic DL/I control blocks.
    Keywords: DLI COBOL2 ANSI85

Problem conclusion

  • The CICS translator has been changed to always generate an
INITIALIZATION call for COBOL DL/I programs.
