APAR status

Error description

  • A TOR region is member of a VTAM GENERIC RESOURCE ( VGR ) and
    has some LU6.2 connections with other CICS partner.
    At TOR shutdown not all the VTAM AFFINITY are terminated between
    TOR and LU62 partner.
    When the connection were acquired message DFHZC0177 (affinity
    created) were issued against all the connections, but at TOR
    shutdown a lower number of message DFHZC0180 ( end affinity)
    were issued.
    The CNOS message DFHZC4900 to 0 indicates that the connection
    have terminated normally, but because message DFHZC0180
    was not issued indicates that the connection quiesce transaction
    (CQPO/CQPI) did not run correctly preventing the affinity to
    be terminated.

    * GENERIC RESOURCE does not terminate all *
    *                      VTAM AFFINITIES with partner LU6.2      *
    *                      regions during a normal shutdown.       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A TOR is a member of a VTAM GENERIC RESOURCE, and uses LU6.2 to
    connect to its partners. It establishes many VTAM AFFINITIES
    with these partners. Each such AFFINITY established causes
    message DFHZC0177 to be issued.
    At CICS shutdown, all these connections are released, but not
    all have their AFFINITY ended. During a normal shutdown CICS
    issues a terminate request for all sessions. This can take some
    time to complete. DFHCLS5 then runs, and sets tcse_endaffin_reqd
    for all sessions which are completely closed. If any sessions
    have not been released then this bit will not be turned on, and
    the AFFINITY will not be ended when DFHZGCH ENDAFFIN runs.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHCLS5 has been changed to wait up to 5 seconds for any
    active user sessions to be unbound before setting
    tcse_endaffin_reqd, which will cause DFHZGCH ENDAFFIN
    to run and terminate the affinities for a connection.
