PM27434: ABENDAEXY OCCURS AFTER EXEC CICS WEB OPEN USING A PROXY AND SSL SUFFERS A SOCKET RECEIVE TIMEOUT.

Error description

• Abend AEXY after Timeout of Web Open:
  We call external Webservices via a Proxy and use therefore the
  XWBOPEN exit.
  When we get problems with the proxy and the application
  gets no response on the EXEC CICS WEB open, the transactions get
  AEXY after 60 seconds. This is not what we expect.
  We expect the application to get control back with :
  Returncode TIMEDOUT. ( RESP(TIMEDOUT) and RESP2(62)) and not
  ABENDAEXY.
  CICS trace shows that SSL is used and shows :

  We know that failing case was caused by a SO RECEIVE response
  (PURGED)  REASON(TIMED_OUT) and this currently results in
  ABENDAEXY .

  An application uses the XWBOPEN exit to call an external web
  service via a proxy. The EXEC CICS WEB OPEN command receives
  no response due to a timeout on the proxy server and this is
  handled as an AEXY abend, but should be presented as a TIMEDOUT
  return code.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHWBCL is altered so that a return code of TIMEDOUT is issued
  on an EXEC CICS WEB OPEN command in the event of a time-out
  on a connection request.
  

Temporary fix

• FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY
