APAR status

  • Closed as unreproducible.

Error description

  • INVALID_ADDRESS is received on EXEC CICS WEB OPEN if HOST
    parameter starts with number instead of letters because CICS
    considers that an IPADDRESS and not as host name.
    Using Ping all is right and also using cics socket interface .
    Mapping it in an urimap we get the same error.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WEB OPEN HOST(hostname) may fail with *
    *                      NOTFND and RESP2=20.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A WEB OPEN HOST or WEB OPEN URIMAP may fail with a NOTFND and
    RESP2=20 when the HOST parameter is used and it contains
    a combination of digits and characters.
                                                                   .
    The VERIFY routine in DFHSOIS will test the first position of
    the HOSTNAME parameter and if it is a digit, assumes the entire
    HOSTNAME is digits and dots. It may contain characters,
    ( for example: 124.example.com ) when it does, incorrect
    processing occurs and the NOTFND is returned.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

  • FIX AVAILABLE BY PTF ONLY

Comments

  • DFHSOIS has been modified to validate the HOSTNAME parameter
    contains no characters before treating it as an IP address.
