Error description
You are using the CICSPlex SM Web User Interface or an API program to perform actions on installed workload objects which exist in more than one workload of the same name. This is typically referred to as a duplicate workload environment. In this instance, if for example a WUI user needs to discard a transaction from an active workload, the user would select one or more rows from the EYUSTARTWLMATRAN.TABULAR view and click the FORCE action. In a duplicate workload environment, the WUI user will receive message: . EYUVC1231E 'Force' (FORCE) request failed. Request complete for 1 records. (Failed, Exception) . The CMAS auxtrace dataset to which the WUI server connects will contain an exception trace entry with debug text XDP4CPLE with a Point Id 26. . The same error message will be issued for other active workload actions, for example, performing a DISCARD action from the EYUSTARTWLMAWDEF.TABULAR view, or a DORMANT or ACTIVE action from the EYUSTARTWLMTGRP.TABULAR view. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V4R1M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Actions issued against active workload * * tables may fail if a duplicate workload * * condition exists. * * * * The affected tables and their * * associated actions are: * * * * Tables Actions * * -------- --------------------- * * WLMATAFF FORCE * * WLMATGRP ACTIVE , DORMANT * * WLMATRAN FORCE * * WLMAWAOR ACTIVATE , QUIESCE * * WLMAWDEF DISCARD * * * * In the case of the WLMAWAOR table, the * * error may occur when a generic workload * * was specified on the request. * * * * API programs will fail with a RESPONSE * * of 1029 (FAILED) and a REASON of 1359 * * (EXCEPTION). * * * * WUI users will receive message * * EYUVC1231E indicating that the action * * failed with (Failed, Exception). * * * * In either instance, examination of the * * auxtrace dataset of the CMAS to which * * the API program or WUI server connects * * will show an exception trace issued by * * method EYU0XDP4 (XDP4), with a debug * * text of "XDP4CPLE" and a trace point ID * * of 26. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note * * that the restarts do not need to occur at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** When an action is issued against an active workload table, method EYU0XDP4 (XDP4), running in the CMAS to which the API program or WUI server is connected, issues a call to method EYU0CPLE (CPLE) to determine which CMAS should process the request. If the specified workload for the request has duplicate copies, or in the case of the WLMAWAOR table, if the request specified a generic workload, CPLE attempts to return an element for each workload. Since XDP4 is only expecting one element, CPLE fails with a STATUS of BUFFER_TOO_SMALL. This results in the action request being failed with a Response/Reason of Failed/Exception.
Problem conclusion
If XDP4 receives a BUFFER_TOO_SMALL status from CPLE, XDP4 will reissue the CPLE call including both the workload name and the workload owner name. This will result in CPLE returning only a single element to XDP4.
