Error description

  • You are running CICS TS 3.2 and receive the following
    message:
DFHSM0133 CICS is under stress (short on storage above 16MB)
A dump at the time of the SOS condition showed the largest
DSA was the ECDSA. Within the ECDSA the largest subpool
    was BAGENRAL.
There is an Omegamon task suspended for BAGENRAL storage.
It has issued an EXEC CICS INQUIRE-ACTIVITYID command.
The CICS internal trace shows this task has also issued
    the following commands:
    STARTBROWSE-ACTIVITY
    GETNEXT-ACTIVITY
    STARTBROWSE-EVENT
    GETNEXT-EVENT
It turns out some storage - BABUSEG1 getmained from the
    BAGENRAL subpool during STARTBROWSE-EVENT processing
    is not getting released properly.

CICS BTS is in use, and the BTS repository contains a large
number of activities in COMPLETE ABENDED state. An application
has been browsing the abended activities and associated events,
via the STARTBROWSE-EVENT SPI. During these browses, CICS has
experienced a Short on Storage condition in ECDSA. The storage
appears to have been consumed by storage subpool BAGENRAL.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHBAAC has been amended so that storage for BABUSEG1 (in the
BAGENRAL subpool) is released immediately after having been
GETMAINed, if it is found that there is no event pool associated
    with the activity.
