Error description

  • You have a IPIC connection from CICS to CTG, and the mirror
task is abending AITJ. The mirror task sends an IS7 error
response and remains in a SOCKET SEND wait as the client is
    unable to respond.
While in a SOCKET SEND wait, this task holds lock IS..1111
EXCLusively. Many other tasks to the CTG, also wait
for the lock EXCL, thus leading to MXT. The Socket send
    wait is never timed out.
Additional Symptoms and Keywords: KIXREVSCB TIMEOUT_TYPE
    DEADLOCK_DELAYED hang hung SEND_IS7 ABENDAITJ
Looking at the send AIOCB, the AIORC at Offset x'44' is
    0000044F EINPROGRESS , (still active).
Stack for the outstanding mirror task.

    ****************************************************************
An IPIC attached mirror task attempts to send a normal response
to a client. The socket SEND hangs due to problems at the client
end. Eventually this SEND times out due to DTIMOUT. The mirror
task is abended AITJ. During transaction termination, an attempt
is made to send an IS7 to the client. This SEND also hangs.
However, the task is now purge protected as it is in transaction
termination. DTIMOUT is therefore prohibited and in fact the
task cannot be PURGED/FORCEPURGED or KILLED. Other tasks back up
behind the first task trying to send down the same socket
causing a backlog of tasks in CICS.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHISZA and DFHISSR have been altered to pass a default
TIME_OUT_VALUE of 5 seconds when sending an IS7 to a client.
DFHWBSV has been altered to pass this value to DFHSOCK
as the timeout_value on the existing socket send.

The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 4 Release 1
Diagnosis Reference manual, GC34-7038-01, has been altered
    as follows:

In Chapter 112, Web Domain (WB), in the section
'WBSV gate, WRITE_RESPONSE function' on page 1895,
    add the following input parameter:

    TIME_OUT_VALUE
This is the time_out_value to be applied to the socket
    SEND for the response.
