Error description

  • One of your files has been set to UNENABLED status after an
    ABEND 0C8/AKEA in modules DFHFCN.
Reviewing the regions Joblog you see the following messages:

DFHAP0001 An abend (code 0C8/AKEA) has occurred at offset
    X'00004DF0' in module DFHFCN

DFHFC0001 An abend (code ---/ASRA) has occurred at offset
    X'60EE' in module DFHFCFS

Investigation into the 0C8/AKEA shows the failing instruction
    in DFHCFN at offset x'4DF0', is 5B20 803C (S R2,FCTDSXCP ).

Reg2 contains the the SHOWCB NEXCP field. Reg8+3C (7FFFFFFF)
field FCTDSXCP, is subtracted from Reg2 (000009C2) which causes
    the failure.

Further review of the Joblog shows this file has been open for
a long time. And the number of EXCPs against it are very high.
As a result, this causes DFHFCFS to suffer the 0C8 when it
attempted to perform the subtract instruction.

    ****************************************************************
An ABEND 0C8 occurs during open / close processing by module
DFHFCN when a subtraction used to obtain file statistics
overflows if the Fixed-Point Overflow Program Mask is set on
    in the PSW.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHFCN has been changed to correctly perform statistics
collection for a file without resulting in an ABEND 0C8.
