Error description

  • Customer is receiving the following message,
    DFHSM0002 A severe error (code X'0C05') has
               occurred in module DFHSMMG

The trace shows the following exception,
    SM 0C05 SMMG *EXC* - Invalid_storage_class
                          - FUNCTION(GETMAIN)

    The stacks shows the following:

It appears that we are in DFHSMMG HCI660 at offset 2BE where
we are checking Subpool value. SP_VALUE/r13+x'119'contains
an invalid value causes this invalid_storage_class.
The problem is due to your application executing an invalid
command(i.e. EXEC CICS ISSUE SEND) while running under a
non-terminal task. This APAR would simply detect such an
invalid state and return an error back to your application,
and you will have to correct your application.

    ****************************************************************
A non-terminal task issues EXEC CICS ISSUE SEND. This command is
designed to be used by terminal transactions and a TCTTE is
expected to be addressed by EISTCTTE.
DFHEDI calls DFHEIP routine EICCSC30 to getmain a TIOA. As
EISTCTTE is nulls, DFHEIP bypasses code which sets the
storage class for the getmain to TERMINAL.
This results in DFHSM0002 SEVERE ERROR (CODE X'0C05') when the
getmain is issued. A getmain for TIOA storage can never succeed
when the current task is non-terminal.
The test of a non-terminal task should have been made by DFHEDI
    before it called DFHEIP.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEDI has been changed so that when command EXEC CICS ISSUE
SEND is made by a non-terminal task, an ABEND ADIS will be
    issued.

The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 4 Release 1
CICS Messages and Codes ( GC34703501 ) will be changed.
In chapter 3 (Transaction abend codes ) the following new
abend will be inserted after the entry for abend code ADIR :-

    ADIS

EXPLANATION: EXEC CICS ISSUE SEND request has been issued
from a task that has a non-terminal principal facility.

SYSTEM ACTION: A CICS transaction dump is provided to
    assist in problem determination.

USER RESPONSE: Use a terminal or device that is properly
    supported.

    MODULE: DFHEDI
