Error description

  • An abend 0C4 occurs in EYU0XDP1 around offset x'EC6' on a MVC
    instruction: D207 2028 80F0. The psw and regs for the abend
    are:

      PSW 078D5000  AF813556   IL 06  IC 04
      REGS 0-3 00000020  2FEEA708  2FEEA4D0  2F8126D0
           4-7 2F8136D0  2F6261B0  2FEE9398  2FEEA120
           8-B 01FF002C  00029000  005E7014  2F6AD060
           C-F 2FEE9FD8  2FEEA120  AF813352  2FEEA8A8

    The abend occurs in the GETR_EXIT label as due to Reg8 not being
    set correctly as the result set descriptor. In this instance,
    the caller passed an invalid thread tokan of x'40404040' on the
    GET request.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend ASRA/S0C4 may occur in method *
    *                      EYU0XDP1 (XDP1) when a EXEC CPSM GET    *
    * request is issued through a CPSM API *
    * program running in a MAS, after *
    * applying any of the following PTFs: *
    *                                                              *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note *
    * that the restarts do not need to occur at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    Code was added in PTF UK58389, and propagated in the additional
    PTFs specified above, to access the error queue in the result
    set descriptor upon exit from XDP1. If the result set
    descriptor is not allocated, for example if an invalid RESULT is
    passed on the GET call, XDP1 still attempts to access the error
    queue, and depending upon the residual value in general register
    8, may abend ASRA/S0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • XDP1 has been updated to bypass the access of the result set
    descriptor error queue if the result set descriptor is not
    allocated.
