    The internal CMAS trace table contains 10 exceptions with debug
    text XQPQFAIL with point id 14. The AICA abend can occur if
    the kernel notify task has no locally connected MASes and has
    no need to broadcast the events. If no plex broadcast is
    necessary, the XLNX task should suspend to avoid a possible
    AICA abend.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend AICA may occur in a CMAS in *
    *                      method EYU0XLNX (XLNX), or a method     *
    * called by XLNX, when a large number of *
    * CPSM events (for example, EMASSICK, *
    * EMASWELL) are being processed in a CMAS *
    * network in a short period of time. *
    *                                                              *
    * This abend is more likely to occur in a *
    * CMAS that has no MASes connected to it. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note *
    * that the restarts do not need to occur at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    When an event is issued for a MAS, XLNX in the CMAS that is
    connected to the MAS will deliver the event locally to other
    methods and then issue a broadcast to deliver the event to all
    CMASes in the network that manage the CICSplex associated with
    the MAS. XLNX will then run in the partner CMASes, delivering
    the event locally only.

    When a large number of events occur in a short period of time,
    it is possible that XLNX will be busy beyond the ICVR value for
    the CMAS. Since the originating CMAS issues a broadcast which
    will cause the task to suspend, it will not AICA. However, the
    partner CMASes do not issue a broadcast, and thus could abend
    AICA.

Problem conclusion

  • XLNX has been updated to call method EYU0XSSP (XSSP) to issue an
    EXEC CICS SUSPEND when processing a large number of events in a
    short period of time, if it does not issue a broadcast.
