Error description

  • CICS gets S0C4 abend inside of DFHFCVR and the PSW points into
VSAM. Recovery is called but with CICS TS 4.1 and above SPHERE
LOCKS are in place for threadsafe and the recovery process does
not release the locks. The file cannot be closed and CICS had
to be recycled to correct the problem.

    ****************************************************************
An abend occurs which causes CICS to drive the recovery routine
of DFHFCVR. During the recovery the routine fails to release
the locks that it had acquired earlier for the write. This means
that the file remains locked, with further write and close
requests being queued. Restarting CICS is the only way to free
    the lock.
