APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When transaction CSPK was run, CICS incorrectly assigned the
    channel to task CSPK during initialisation. The channel was
    then deleted when CSPK finishes. So when EXEC CICS ASSIGN
    CHANNEL was issued, the channel was not found.

Local fix

  • Using the local screen print function of terminal emulator.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Current channel is missing after CSPK *
    *                      is run.                                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    An EXEC CICS RETURN TRANSID CHANNEL is issued by a user task.
    Before the next user task starts by a terminal input,
    transaction CSPK is run. CICS incorrectly assigns the channel to
    CSPK. When CSPK finishes the channel is deleted by CICS. The
    next user task runs and issues an EXEC CICS ASSIGN CHANNEL. No
    channel is returned. Exception CHANNEL_NOT_FOUND is issued by
    EXEC CICS ASSIGN CHANNEL. This happens in both single CICS
    scenario and TOR and AOR scenario.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHTFXM and DFHXTP are changed so that CICS will ignore the
    current channel when the task is CSPK. This prevents CICS
    incorrectly binding the current channel to CSPK. Fix added by
    PM47098 in CICS release V4.1 and V4.2 is also included in this
    APAR.
