Error description
Customer is running CICS 3.2 and the region went Short on storage above the line. They purged some transactions using CEKL, and the region was still SOS. These tasks were no longer in the system, but were still on storage manager's suspend chain waiting for storage. Here are some messages from the console: DFHCQ0259I CEKL SET: KILL request issued for task number 09984. DFHME0139 (Module:DFHMEME) Message DFHSM0001 has been suppressed by KILL processing. DFHCQ0259I CEKL SET: KILL request issued for task number 09983. DFHDS0002 A severe error (code X'0056') has occurred in module DFHDSKE.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS continues to report being SOS even * * though storage is now available. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** CICS becomes SOS. To free up storage CEKL is used from the console to KILL a number of tasks. If one or more of these KILLed tasks are suspended waiting for storage, their suspend queue elements remain in the suspend chain even though the tasks have gone away. As a result CICS still believes it is SOS even though storage in the DSA is now available. Comments
The Storage Manager recovery routine has been modified such that, if driven for a task which is currently suspended the suspend is completed. As a result the suspend queue elements are removed from the queue.
