Error description

  • Customer is running CICS/TS 3.2 regions after upgrading the
    CSD to CICS/TS 4.2 in preparation for migrating the regions
    to CICS/TS 4.2. They are using compatibility groups since
    they are running CICS/TS 3.2 with a CICS/TS 4.2 CSD.
    The issue is that DFHDBAT, DFHEDP and DFHDBUEX are defined
    as CONCURRENCY(THREADSAFE) by default by the CICS/TS 4.2
    supplied definitions for these programs however the CICS/TS
    3.2 versions of these programs are not defined as such.
    .
    Since CICS/TS 4.2 does not have a definition for DFHDBAT in a
    compatibilitygroup. This causes CICS/TS 3.2 regionsthat are
    running with an upgraded CSD to run with program DFHDBAT at
    CONCURRENCY(THREADSAFE).
    The 4.2 CONCURRENCYparameters for DFHDBAT, DFHEDP and DFHDBUEX
    should be aligned with their 3.2 equivalents.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Non-threadsafe CICS-supplied programs   *
    * defined as threadsafe give *
    *                      unpredictable results.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    DFHCCNV, DFHUCNV, DSNTIAC, DSNTIA1, DFHEDP, DFHDBAT and
    DFHDBUEX were made threadsafe in CICS TS 4.2 but are not
    included in the DFHCOMPE compatibility group, when the DFHCSDUP
    UPGRADE command is run against a CSD from an earlier release of
    CICS TS. As a consequence unpredictable results may occur in
    earlier CICS TS releases, when these non-threadsafe programs
    are run with the threadsafe attribute from a migrated CSD.
    In the reported case, a CICS region is unable to reconnect
    to DBCTL because a CICS counter holds a negative value
    after being decremented by DFHDBAT that is incorrectly defined
    as threadsafe .
