Error description
You have a CICS region where a program called PROGRAM1 could not be new copied. This is because CICS thought the program was in use even though no transaction was using this program. . PG domain shows this program with a use count of 1 and no tasks are using the program. The LD domain shows the program with a use count of 1. . Earlier during this run of CICS, there are a series of dumps as a task was abending because of an application overlay. DFHPG0001 program check in DFHAPLI1 at +X'1D1E' due to the tasks EIUS control block being overlayed with x'40's . Kernal Error Table shows: PROGRAM_CHECK 0C4/AKEA UNKNOWN UNKNOWN PROGRAM_CHECK 0C4/AKEA DFHAPLI1 00001D1E PERCOLATE ---/AKEA DFHPGLE 00001410 . In this series of dumps you can see task nnnnn was using PROGRAM1 and while the errors percolated passed the PROGRAM1 level, the use count was not decremented. Causing PROGRAM1 to not be new copied. . Additional Keywords: IN_USE counter newcopy KIXREVMGM

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Unable to NEWCOPY a program. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In the reported problem, the following program flow was in effect: . Program_A linked to Program_B which XCTL'd to Program_C. . Program_C abended due to an overlay of EIUS storage. DFHAPLI1 recovery routine was driven but a path exists where the RES ( usecount ) of Program_C was not decremented. . As a consequence, it was not possible to NEWCOPY a new version of Program_C because usecount could never be zero.
Problem conclusion
Program Manager has been amended to decrement the program usecount correctly.
