    * connection control block during *
    *                      shutdown.                               *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    CICS is being shutdown driving a normal FEPI shutdown. At this
    time an UNBIND is received for one of the FEPI connections
    causing the FEPI SCIP exit DFHSZXSC to run and mark the
    connection as lost.
    As part of FEPI shutdown, a TERMSESS request is issued for this
    connection, even though it is already marked as lost. The
    TERMSESS takes some time to complete, and during this interval
    FEPI shutdown processing calls DFHSZRDC to delete the DFHSZDCD
    connection storage.
    When the TERMSESS does complete, the RPL exit DFHSZXFR is driven
    and queues the (now freed) connection up for further processing.
    As all the same flags are set as when the connection was first
    deleted, FEPI again calls DFHSZRDC which attempts a second
    FREEMAIN, resulting in message 'DFHSM0002 A severe error (code
    X'0305') has occurred in module DFHSMGF'.

Problem conclusion

  • FEPI has been changed for the reported scenario so that the
    unnecessary TERMSESS will not be issued during FEPI shutdown.
